Iguanas are a largely diverse and spread out family, even when talking about the West Indian Rock Iguana (which narrows down the Rock Iguana) there are at least three subspecies. This leaves plenty of space and room for weird, odd or even amazing abilities, such as the Marine Iguanas ability to go underwater. Many of these are adaptations that most of the iguana family share in most parts. Here are a few examples:

FUN FACTS

Believe it or not that long hangy thing on the iguanas neck actually has a name, the dewlap.  This may just seem like some flashy fashion item, but this actually has a use.  The upper area of the dewlap can store large amounts of fat, preparing the iguana for possible famine and food shortages

The iguana has a special bone connecting its tail to its main body, like almost all animals that possess a tail, however the iguanas have a more interesting ability created by this bone. Should the iguanas tail get caught or become a hassle in a dangerous situation, the iguana can simply choose to drop it, literally. the bone basically dislodges the tail from the main body and the tail is no longer a hassle. The bone also prevents the tail or body from bleeding. After this process is done, the tail will slowly grow back, though shorter and fatter than the last one.

An iguanas dewlap is usually used to show threatening behaviour. It can be extended to show the defending of territory, or to simply show anger.
